Keeping your home clean can feel overwhelming, but having a structured plan can make it much easier. 

In this free cleaning checklist, I will break down tasks into manageable sections, covering every room in your house.

1. Kitchen

You should start by cleaning the stove, oven, and microwave to ensure that all cooking surfaces are free from grease and grime.

The dishwasher should be cleaned to prevent any build-up and to keep it functioning efficiently.

Don’t forget to clean the fridge, removing expired items and wiping down all surfaces.

Clear off the kitchen counters and clean them thoroughly, ensuring there are no crumbs or spills left behind. 

Next, focus on the kitchen cupboards and drawers, cleaning both inside and out. Organize the pantry, removing outdated items and wiping down shelves. 

Clean the kitchen windows to let in more light, and ensure the light fixtures are free from dust and cobwebs.

Wash the baseboards, walls, and floor to give the kitchen a sparkling finish.

2. Bathroom

In the bathroom, start with the bathtub, scrubbing away soap scum and ensuring it’s spotless.

Clean the sink and vanity, removing any toothpaste residue and water stains. 

The toilet should be cleaned thoroughly inside and out. Replace the shower curtain liner if it’s moldy or mildewed. 

Clean the bathroom windows and light fixtures to brighten the space.

Wash the baseboards, walls, and floor, paying special attention to corners and behind the toilet.

3. Master Bedroom

You should begin by dusting all dressers and surfaces. Clean and organize the closet, sorting through clothes and shoes and removing anything no longer needed. 

Flip the mattress to ensure even wear and prolong its life. Clean the windows, making sure they are streak-free.

Dust the light fixtures and ensure they are free from any cobwebs. 

Wash the baseboards and walls to remove any dust or marks. Finish by vacuuming the floor, including under the bed and other furniture.

4. Kids’ Bedrooms

You should first clean all dressers and surfaces. Organize the closets, sorting through clothes, toys, and other items, and removing what is no longer used.

Flip the mattresses to keep them in good condition. Clean the windows to let in more light. Dust the light fixtures, ensuring they are free from dust and cobwebs.

Wash the baseboards and walls, focusing on areas where kids’ fingerprints and marks are common.

Finally, vacuum the floor thoroughly, ensuring no toys or small items are left behind.

5. Living Room

In the living room, vacuum all the furniture to remove dust and crumbs. Wash the throws and pillows to keep them fresh. 

Dust all furniture and electronics, making sure screens are smudge-free. Clean the windows to let in natural light. 

Dust the light fixtures, removing any cobwebs. Wash the baseboards and walls to remove any scuff marks or dust.

Finally, wash or vacuum the floor, ensuring a clean and welcoming space.

6. Family Room

You should first vacuum all furniture, paying attention to crevices and under cushions. Wash the throws and pillows to keep them clean and fresh. 

Dust all furniture and electronics, making sure to clean around cables and behind devices. Clean the windows to allow more light into the room. 

Dust the light fixtures, ensuring they are free from dust and cobwebs. Wash the baseboards and walls to remove any marks or dust. 

7. Laundry Room

In the laundry room, clean the washing machine and dryer to remove any lint and detergent build-up.

Organize the laundry supplies, ensuring everything is in its place. Clean the windows to let in more light. 

Dust the light fixtures, removing any cobwebs. Wash the baseboards and walls to remove any dust or marks. Finally, wash the floor to keep the area clean and safe.

8. Foyer

First, clean and organise the closet, removing any unnecessary items. Wash the mat to remove dirt and grime. 

Dust the light fixtures, ensuring they are free from dust and cobwebs. Wash the baseboards and walls to remove any scuff marks. 

Wash the floor to keep the entryway clean. Lastly, wipe down the door to remove any fingerprints and marks, ensuring it looks welcoming.

9. Other Tasks

For other tasks around the house, clean and organize the linen closet, ensuring everything is neatly folded and in its place. 

Wash the trash cans to remove any odors and bacteria. Clean all mirrors to ensure they are streak-free. 

Dust the computers and printers, making sure they are free from dust and debris to keep them functioning well.
